Inclusion

Strategic Lead Calderdale Music

The Strategic Lead for Inclusion in the West Yorkshire Music Hub plays a pivotal role in ensuring that music education is accessible and inclusive for all children and young people, regardless of their background or abilities. This role is aligned with the vision outlined in “The Power of Music to Change Lives” and supports the West Yorkshire Music Hub’s and Arts Council England’s commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access.

The Strategic Lead for Inclusion is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that promote inclusive practices within the Music Hub. It will work closely with schools, community organisations, and other stakeholders to create a network of support that addresses the diverse needs of students whilst also providing opportunities for training and support to staff to ensure they are equipped to deliver high-quality, inclusive music education.

One of the key responsibilities of the Strategic Lead for Inclusion is to ensure that all children and young people have the opportunity to engage with music, regardless of their socio-economic status, ethnicity, or any disabilities they may have. This involves identifying and working towards removing barriers to participation, such as financial constraints or lack of access to instruments and resources. It will also advocate for the inclusion of underrepresented groups in music education programs, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are met.

In addition to these responsibilities, the Strategic Lead for Inclusion will monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of inclusion strategies, using data and feedback to make continuous improvements. They work to create a culture of inclusivity within the Music Hub, where diversity is celebrated, and all students feel valued and supported.

By fostering an inclusive environment, the Strategic Lead for Inclusion will help to ensure that the transformative power of music is accessible to all, enabling every child and young person to experience the joy and benefits of music education and work towards achieving the broader goals of the National Plan for Music Education.
